DOW
A portfolio of integrated solutions from Dow Building Solutions addresses the entire window and door opening, and all products are fully compatible with each other. When used together, the system is designed to complement and protect windows and doors and the surrounding assemblies and fenestration openings to create an effective seal of protection, helping to prevent unwanted and costly air infiltration and exfiltration. It reduces drafts, water intrusion and helps control dust, exterior allergens and insects. The portfolio of products includes Weathermate sill pan and door pan, Weathermate Straight and Flexible flashing, Great Stuff Pro window and door insulating foam sealant and Dow Window & Door 1000 sealant, the newest offering. All of Dow’s fenestration products are compatible with all common types of window and door substrates— vinyl, wood and metal. In addition, they are compatible with many surrounding wall assembly substrates, including OSB, foam board and housewrap.
Weathermate sill pan and door pan redirect water from windows and doors to the building exterior, helping to keep the interior wall and building components protected and dry. The two-piece molded polymer will not rust or rot.
Weathermate Straight and Flexible flashing for windows and doors provide a watertight seal when properly installed around windows, doors or skylight openings, those areas most vulnerable to bulk water intrusion. The flashing provides seamless protection at jambs and straight heads and conforms to curved openings and custom shapes. The self-adhering butyl rubber adhesive provides excellent performance in a wide range of weather conditions.
Great Stuff Pro Window and Door insulating foam sealant permanently seals gaps and cracks in home construction or renovation. The polyurethane-based foam offers minimal-expanding and pliable formulation to permit expansion and contraction while stopping drafts; and the company states it is proven not to distort window or door frames.
Dow Window & Door 1000 sealant is specifically formulated to seal window and door frames, exterior and interior trim and finish joints and interfaces of most building materials. It is moisture- and mildew-resistant and contains a non-yellowing formula. The sealant also includes a rust-inhibitor that reduces the potential for corrosion at joint seals with metal components. It adheres to a variety of surfaces including wood, vinyl and plastics, aluminum and stainless steel, masonry, plaster drywall and painted surfaces.
